A Visit to the Emory Brain Health Center

Last week we had the opportunity to speak at the Emory Brain Health Center’s Parkinson’s Lunch and Learn. Thanks to our friends over there for giving us that honor! Of course, the topic we chose was “Don’t wait! The importance of an aging care plan.” It is a topic near and dear to our hearts and one we find ourselves talking about non-stop. Why is that?

Don’t Wait!

About 5 years ago Paul Demick and I started Caring Companions of Atlanta and quickly came to a realization. We’d visit a family that called us about home care and, inevitably, the conversation would morph into a larger dialogue about the many important topics aging people face. Yes, home care was an immediate need. But what about so many other things that burdened them? Or, even things they had never considered to address as they age?

Planning and Choices

We all want choices at every point of our lives. Choices give us the power to forge our own path and not succumb to an unfamiliar or undesirable outcome. That was the impetus of “Don’t wait! The importance of an aging care plan.” A desire to empower all those we can with a message to make a plan and have choices as they age. Choices to live where they choose…choices to ensure their assets end up in the hands of those they love. Choices to have resources to help them get the help they need.

We had a great turn out and want to thank the staff at the Emory Brain Health Center for the invite. If you know any groups you want to hear the “Don’t wait! About Adam Seever, Owner

The son of two social workers, Adam grew up in Chicago and lived there for over 30 years. He began his career at a Chicago-based marketing services agency determined to make his mark in the industry. In 1997 Adam moved to Atlanta while working for the Coca-Cola Company, where he spent 8 years in their sports marketing division. Adam left Coke in 2001 to join Clear Channel Entertainment and later went on to work both domestically and internationally for the World's largest sports agency, International Management Group. Adam eventually worked as a consultant and spearheaded numerous high profile projects including the building of Coke’s iconic Coke bottle at Turner Field in Atlanta. While Adam always felt lucky to have worked in the exciting world of marketing, he also felt the need to participate in something with more of a connection to the community. That quest eventually led him to earn his CNA degree and become an owner of Caring Companions of Atlanta, LLC.
Adam is married and he and his wife have two younger children. The family shares their home with two cats and two hermit crabs. The kids are working hard to get mommy and daddy to add a puppy...time will tell! They live in Sandy Springs and are active in the senior community.
