Sometimes things that seem so simplistic can be very puzzling to many of our senior friends. We need to remember that they have not grown up in a computer-society. In fact, the whole computer phenomenon is a recent addition to daily life.
I am no expert when it comes to all things digital. That being said, there have been at least a dozen times when I have asked an older adult if their computer is working properly or if they are having any challenges. Very often, I learn their are issues. And, those issue (to my senior friends) mean their computer just does not work! I often ask to have a look and learn the trouble is something as simple as a minimized window or software needing updates. A recent instance left my friend extremely frustrated because she could not find her search window. In fact, she had somehow dragged it off to the side and it was hidden with the exception of a tiny corner I noticed.
If you have an older friend, ask them about their computer. See if they need help. Computers can be pathways to entertainment and a way for seniors to battle isolation. Usually their “broken computer” is a simple fix to those of us with a little more computer experience. Otherwise, they might take their machine to the guy below!
