Great Home Care = Skin in the Game

Hello friends:

I have posted several times about misconceptions of how home care works. After meeting with families for years, I have come to realize that there is a perception that getting a great caregiver is more akin to flipping on a light switch than it is to a deliberate process. Oh, how I wish that was the case!

Care giving is a people business. Anytime people are involved…personalities and expectations are present. Layer on love, interpersonal family dynamics and the stress of having a loved on losing their independence and the waters cloud a bit. As such, we take finding a great caregiver very personally. After all, we are being called upon to deliver great care for mom or dad. Rarely do families was “OK care” or just a warm body.

When we meet with a family, our job is to listen to their needs, explain the realities of the business…and ultimately, deliver that great care. Great care is achievable but it does require an orchestrated effort.

Anatomy of Great Care

To illustrate the effort that goes into finding great care, we created a visual called “Anatomy of Great Care.” It outlines all the steps Caring Companions goes through to find a great caregiver and prepare them to provide service to a client. By the time a caregiver arrives at a client’s house, we are well vested in them and their family. It is a lot of work but the payoff is priceless. It can (and often does) have a dramatic positive affect on not just the client(s) but the entire family. Peace of mind, easing of guilt (both by the family and the senior) and restoration of a quality of life.

About Adam Seever, Owner

The son of two social workers, Adam grew up in Chicago and lived there for over 30 years. He began his career at a Chicago-based marketing services agency determined to make his mark in the industry. In 1997 Adam moved to Atlanta while working for the Coca-Cola Company, where he spent 8 years in their sports marketing division. Adam left Coke in 2001 to join Clear Channel Entertainment and later went on to work both domestically and internationally for the World's largest sports agency, International Management Group. Adam eventually worked as a consultant and spearheaded numerous high profile projects including the building of Coke’s iconic Coke bottle at Turner Field in Atlanta. While Adam always felt lucky to have worked in the exciting world of marketing, he also felt the need to participate in something with more of a connection to the community. That quest eventually led him to earn his CNA degree and become an owner of Caring Companions of Atlanta, LLC.
Adam is married and he and his wife have two younger children. The family shares their home with two cats and two hermit crabs. The kids are working hard to get mommy and daddy to add a puppy...time will tell! They live in Sandy Springs and are active in the senior community.
