Home Care in Atlanta GA
There are tons of great resources for information on how to work with persons suffering from dementia…and it is a good thing. There is no “one size fits all” solution to care. Sadly, all too often, caregivers have not had adequate training to effectively manage symptoms and engage patients. It is not that they do not provide good care…a big heart and tender care can go a long way. However, a little training can go a long way to encouraging a genuine connection and ongoing engagement.
I am a frequent visitor of Amy’s Place Memory Care Cafe in Roswell. Pam Van Awn and her team do great work and I am so happy to have gotten to know them. Teepa Snow is an expert in dementia care and has extremely informative videos posted on line that offer great caregiving techniques. The “cheat-sheet” attached here is courtesy of an Australian service dedicated to caring for sufferers. Much of it is common sense, but can be easily overlooked.
So, if you have contact with someone suffering from dementia, please take the time to learn as much as you can. A little education can go a long way to creating genuine connections and helping people in need. You may view the attached flyer for more information.
