- Do stock up on high fiber foods. Fiber has a number of benefits, such as helping the elder feel full longer, preventing constipation and digestive issues, and lowering blood cholesterol. beans, whole grain bread, fruits, vegetables, and nuts are all excellent sources of fiber.
- Do not buy butter. Butter can cause the senior’s cholesterol to rise and increase their weight to an unhealthy level. Encourage the elder to replace their butter with healthy alternatives, such as spreads that have healthy fats and plant sterols that will help lower high cholesterol.
