We recently sent out a communication to our “bench” of caregivers about the value of being vaccinated. A version of it is below. As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone has a choice to go get vaccinated or to choose not to do so.
We are aware there are a multitude of opinions about vaccinations in general, and even more-so about ones developed as quickly as they were for COVID-19. We are not here to lecture anyone about if they should or should not get vaccinated.
However, there is an emerging truth related to the caregiver community. Caregivers that choose to be vaccinated are even MORE in demand that their peers. And, as we all know the shortage of caregivers in general already makes them a hot commodity. So, read below…
Dear amazing caregivers:
Did you know that being vaccinated for COVID-19 increases your value to the marketplace? In fact, doing so might result in increased pay and almost guarantees you will be flooded with opportunities in the foreseeable future!
Why is this?
Well, many clients are telling us they ONLY want to work with caregivers that have been vaccinated. Yep…that’s right…it is totally within a client’s right to make that request. As you know, not all caregivers are choosing to be vaccinated. So, what does that mean? One, the pool of caregivers available to families insisting on vaccinated caregivers shrinks. Two, that makes the caregivers that have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine more in demand!
So, while it makes sense to get the vaccine for your health (research indicates that those that are vaccinated are protected from getting a severe case and will absolutely not die from it), it also makes you a hot commodity! That might just up your rate of pay and get you the job you really want!
For those of you concerned about the vaccinations making you sick, note that the CDC says this:
Can a COVID-19 vaccine make me sick with COVID-19?
No. None of the COVID-19 vaccines contain the live virus that causes COVID-19 so a COVID-19 vaccine cannot make you sick with COVID-19. COVID-19 Vaccination Facts
